  1. 2/1/09: Dr. Alan Goldhamer, D.C.,
http://www.truenorthhealth.com/, was our first speaker for 2009! He gave a highly informative and dynamic presentation addressing how to live the vegan/vegetarian lifestyle with confidence from a nutritional point of view.

Note: A video of this presentation can be checked out from our SFLife library for library members.

Dr. AlanGoldhamer, D.C., is the president of the International Association of Hygienic Physicians. He is also the director of the TrueNorth Health Center. The Center, which is located in Santa Rosa, Calif., specializes in fasting supervision, and is one of only two in-patient facilities in the world that trains and certifies physicians in that specialty.

Since 1984 he has supervised the care of over 7,000 patients on water-only fasting from periods ranging from 5-40 days. Dr.Goldhamer completed his chiropractic studies at Western States Chiropractic College in Portland, Oregon, and completed his internship in fasting supervision at the Arcadia Health Center in Australia, under the direction of Dr. Alec Burton. Dr. Goldhamer is the author of The Health Promoting Cookbook, co-author of The Pleasure Trap, and he recently participated in the production of two new videos on vegan cuisine and fasting.

  2. 3/1/09: Monthly potluck

Speaker: Robin Silberman The focus of the March 1 potluck is "Getting Back to the Basics withLiving Foods"by Robin Silberman. Robin will be giving a demo on RawSauerkraut/Veggiekraut as created by Ann Wigmore. More and more people are confused when turning to Living Foods as a source of vibrant health and rebuilding. Learning the fundamentals from those who started it all, clarifies what is really important in a Living Foods Lifestyle program. It's not cookies, pizza, or fudge! It's real food, which will feed you. Raw Sauerkraut provides essential vitamins, digestive enzymes, and important nutrients. Come learn from someone who studied from Ann Wigmore herself. You can purchase this sauerkraut after the demo, outside of thebuilding. You also will be able to purchase Robin's Living Foods Passover Haggadah L'Chaim To Life, in time for Passover in April.

  3. 4/5/09: Monthly potluck

    Speaker: TBA

Recipe of the Month

"RAW SAVORY MASHED "POTATOES"

Submitted by: Sherry Froman

2 parsnips
1.5 cups of caulifower
1 cup of soaked macadamia nuts
1 or 2 cloves of garlic
1 teaspoon Spike seasoning
1 teaspoon nutritional yeast
1 teaspoon fresh rosemary
1 cup unsweetened almond milk

Blend all ingredients in the food processor or blender until fairly
smooth. Serve warmed.

*Note- I don't usually make raw dishes by measurments, I just go with
what tastes good. So if some of the recipes don't taste as flavorful,
or have too much of something, feel free to add or subtract different
amounts of ingredients as you go. And have fun!
